4 is the magic number

Sometimes you just strike lucky! I've been corresponding with a member of the Downey clan for a while now (no, not the Downey Head clan but the Alfred and Leslie Downey clan), which has made it possible to update my Alfred Downey database quite a bit, thanks to the family archive.  We're still working on the Leslie Downey database, so watch this space, but in the meantime I got sent a scan of a great cover!

As you can see, it is a first day cover of the 1978 Guernsey set depicting old prints. Two of those  had already been entered in the database, but, as now appears, under the wrong engravers. The four stamps have all been signed by their respective engravers, thanks to aforementioned Leslie Downey who organised this cover, and who engraved the 5p value.

The other engravers are Stanley Doubtfire (the 7p), James A Moore (the 13p) and Anthony P Smith (the 11p). The latter is a new entry in this database so that is even more exciting!
