Antonio Ciaburro was born in 1951. He studied design at the
Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and became a painter and engraver. Since 1976 he
has been working for the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato. His first known
engraved stamps appeared in 1982, those being issues for San Marino and vatica
City. These were followed in 1983 by his first Italian stamps.
Ciaburro has won the Cavallino d’Oro Prize for his philatelic
work. In 2014 and 2015 his stamps depicting David and Pasolini respectively won
the Grand Prix for most beautiful stamps in the European Union.
