BIOGRAPHY: Bertil Skov Jørgensen

Bertil Skov Jørgensen was born in Kolding, Denmark, in 1968. After a few years studying theology, Skov Jørgensen went to the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, where he studied from 1992 to 1999. This was followed up by two years of study under the stamp engraver Martin Mörck.

Skov Jørgensen’s first engraved stamps, for Denmark, appeared in 2008. Some further issued followed in the following five years, for Denmark and Greenland. In an era where recess-printed stamps, even in Scandinavia, were on the way out, Skov Jørgensen was more and more deployed to ‘merely’ design stamps, rather than  engrave them, although some of these are designed in such a way that they resemble engraved stamps.
