George H Seymour was born in 1852. He joined the ABNC when
he was only 16 years old, in 1868. Seymour became a frame and letter engraver, with his first known
stamp work being the frame of the 6c ‘Lincoln’ definitive issued in the United
States in 1870. Seymour would become one of the best in his field of engraving.
Seymour retired on 9 June 1916, enjoying a very long
retirement because he only passed away on 12 February 1943.
