BIOGRAPHY: Arnold Feke

Arnold Feke was born in 1975 in Kralovsky Chlmec, in what is now Slovakia. Long before he went to the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, Arnold Feke had been interested in the works of the classic engravers. Under the guidance of his teacher the stamp engraver Martin Cinovsky he learned to master those classic engraving techniques.

Feke studied at the academy from 1996 to 2002, but started working for the Slovak postal authorities at around the same time. His early work for them consisted of engravings for First Day Covers. Noteable among those are his 1996 portrait of Andrej Kvasz for the 1996 Technical Monuments set and the engraving for the 1997 S. H. Vajansky stamp, part of the National Activists issue.

In fact, Feke started engraving stamps in 1999, but it his FDC artwork which has brought him awards, such as for the 2004 Dobrotsky Forest issue.

From the listings on the Pofis website, it would seem that Arnold Feke has stopped engraving stamps after 2010.
