  1. Hi Adrian,
I just spotted this engraver, and I'm really impressed with his work. I have a couple of questions for you. Is this a definitive list of his work or still a work in progress? And, do you know the names of the other engravers who worked on the 1940 Famous Americans series?

    Cheers
    Matt

    1. Hi Matt, this is a complete list as far as my information goes (that includes the information from Gene Hessler's book), except that he also did a few military payment certificates and some Internal Revenue Stamps, which I will upload later today when I have a minute.
The other engravers were: LC Kauffmann, HR Rollins, G Roberts, J. Eissler, CT Arlt, WO Marks, MD Fenton, JR Lowe, WB Wells and JT Vail.

  2. Thanks for the info, Adrian. There's just soo much to learn when it comes to engravers! I'm still a babe in the woods lol. Is the Hessler book you mentioned called, The international Engravers Line?

    1. Hello babe in the woods! I still feel like that as well, but that keeps it interesting, isn't it? So much to discover!
Hesler wrote two books that are of interest to stamp collectors: the one you mention and 'The Engraver's Line', which is the USA part of the duo. And that is of course the one where you'll find the info I've just given you. Get the books because they're brilliant! And get them from the author because then you may be in luck and get some engravings with them. The address is engraversline@aol.com

    2. Thanks for the link. I'll get in touch. But they'll probably be a little pricey for me unfortunately.

      Cheers
      Matt
